Bruin domination over the Trojans continue as the UCLA Women’s basketball team beat USC last night at Pauley Pavilion 71-60 to complete the season sweep of the crosstown rival. The Bruins were able to forge a major comeback in the second half after being down 32-26 at the break. UCLA then outscored USC 45-28 to solidify the win and the season sweep.

UCLA, though improved from last year, is still finding it hard to get their groove as they are 8-9 so far this season. Things have improved in conference as they are 4-2 in the Pac-12. Even though the Bruins have had a few down games, this was not one of them.

Things did not start out well for UCLA as head coach Cori Close had suspended six Bruins for the first half due to unspecified reason.

Despite that, the Bruins were able to battle back in a epic second half lead by Kari Korver who finished with a game-high 23 points on 3-for-6 3 point shooting. Nirra Fields was also a big factor for UCLA as she almost pulled down a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Talk about finishing strong.

With his win, the UCLA Women’s basketball team not only wins the season series over USC, but increases the Bruin’s lead over the Trojans in the BMW Crosstown Cup to 55-10.

UCLA Men’s Water Polo team is the only Bruin squad that has lost to the Trojans (during a regular season game), though UCLA had the last laugh as the Bruins beat the Trojans 9-8 in the NCAA Championship Game to bring home UCLA’s 112th National Championship.

Go Bruins!
