Tight End Alize Jones Decommits From UCLA, Flips Commitment To Notre Dame
UCLA recruiting took a bit of a hit today when the top tight end in the west, Alize Jones out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, decommited from the Bruins. Jones, who had committed to UCLA back in November of 2013, announced that he was dropping the Bruins and taking his talents to the Midwest to play for Notre Dame.
So that happened.
UCLA Bruins
Jones was a huge get for the Bruins when he committed over a year ago. At the time, he was thought to be a solid lock for UCLA, but in the last few months, it had come out that he might have been opening up his recruitment, all the while still committed to the Bruins.
Go Joe Bruin writer Michael Hanna had touched upon this in his recent article, UCLA Football Recruiting: 2015 Offensive Big Broad Update. Jones, though once thought to possess an unbreakable pledge to play for the Bruins, has since been one of the “flimsiest” commitments to UCLA.
Jones had taken an official visit to South Bend in December of 2014 and since then it has been rumored that he would flip his commitment. That finally happened this morning, coincidentally, one day after UCLA made big news about their unique recruiting style in an attempt to get another top player, the #1 ranked tight end in the nation, Chris Clark. Clark has named UCLA as one of two finalist on his short list with Michigan.
