Wanaah Bail Academically Ineligible And Is Out For The Rest Of The Season

As if the UCLA Basketball team did not have enough problems on their hands, today they were hit with another blow as it was revealed that sophomore forward Wanaah Bail has been ruled academically ineligible and will miss the remainder of the season. This is a big blow for UCLA as they are already very thin on the depth chart. Without Bail, the Bruins are now down to eight scholarship players that are available to play.

This comes at a very inopportune time as the Bruins have one more non-conference game at Alabama before they start Pac-12 play, which is looking to be very challenging this season. Currently, there are three teams in conference that are ranked in the Top 25: #3 Arizona (12-1), #13 Washington (11-0) and #14 Utah (9-2). The Bruins meet Utah on Sunday, January 4 in Salt Lake City for their second Pac-12 Conference game of the year.

Though Bail has not been a key component in the Bruin’s game plan this season, it does give head coach Steve Alford one less option to go to. Bail was only averaging 1.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in nine minutes per game. His absence now leaves the Bruins with only Thomas Welsh, Noah Allen and Gyorgy Goloman. All of which are averaging less than 15 minutes per game.
