- UCLA Basketball: The Bruins arguably has the No. 1 2023 Recruiting Class
With five players gone (four of them starters), UCLA is expected to have a bit less success in the 2014-15 season. The Bruins brought in a Top 20 recruiting class, but they will be without Jonah Bolden for eligibility issues. Right off the top, depth is an issue as the Bruins only have four scholarship guards and four scholarship big men, which is not a big deal, seeing as head coach Steve Alford played an eight-man rotation last season. That is fine, but if a player gets hurt or in foul trouble, the Bruins will be in a whole spot of trouble on a bigger scale.
Although they are thin, they have a lot of talent on their team. They will be lead by senior Norman Powell who is both offensively explosive and defensive-minded. Tony Parker will take the lead for the big men and is looking to produce more this season seeing as he finally has help underneath. Bryce Alford, Noah Allen and Wanaah Bail will all their time increased due to the depth issue. As far as the freshmen, keep a close look out for Kevon Looney and Thomas Welsh who are more than just good around the rim. Gyorgy Goloman will come in off the bench to provided support in front court.
Go Bruins!
