Here is the Go Joe Bruin Pac-12 Football Week 4 Recap.

NORTH DIVISION

1. Oregon (4-0, 1-0)

W 38-31 at Washington State

Despite a great game and a great battle against the lowly Cougars, Oregon was exposed in this game. Despite running their high-octane offense with precision, there were a few bumps in the road as the Ducks were showing how thin at offensive line they were. With only seven players available, the O-line allowed Marcus Mariota to be sacked seven times. As for the Duck defense, they were torn apart by the active and impressive air road offense.

2. Washington (4-0)

W 45-14 vs Georgia State

If you are not sure what to think of Washington, you are not alone. After drawing a blank in the first half against Georgia State, they roared back to score all their points in the second half. Offensively, the Huskies were pretty efficient, but on defense, which included a second half shut out, Washington limited Georgia State to 68 yards on the ground. Chris Petersen‘s team may start slow, but they are learning to finish fast.

3. Oregon State (3-0)

W 28-7 vs San Diego State

After allowing only one SDSU score, Oregon State blanked the Aztecs in the rest of regulation. Surprisingly, it was not their venomous passing game that did San Diego State in. Despite 275 passing yards by Sean Mannion, he had 0 TDs and 1 INT. It was the Beaver ground game that pulled them through as Terron Ward and Storm Woods had had 2 rushing TDs each.

4. Stanford (2-1, 0-1)

5. Cal (2-1, 0-1)

More from Pac-12

L 45-49 at Arizona

The easy summation of the Cal performance is that they blew it. Cal, which has surprised many in this young season, was doing the same thing to start the game against Arizona. The Golden Bears had jumped out to a 28-6 lead at halftime and was looking very good… but then the second half happened and the Cal defense was embarrassed as not only did Arizona put up 627 yards on the Golden Bears, but allowed 36 4th quarter points. Cal may be doing better overall, but they seriously need to work on finishing games.

6. Washington State (1-3, 0-1)

L 31-38 vs Oregon

The score may indicate an Oregon win, but the Cougars were cheated on a missed pass interference that would have put Washington State in position to tie the against the #2 team in the nation. Unfortunately, WSU was credited with an incomplete and Connor Halliday was sacked on the next down which was unfortunately a 4th down. Still, Halliday and Company put on a hell of a show and took Oregon to the edge. What was most impressive was WSU’s front seven that sacked Mariota seven times after only being sacked three times in the Ducks first three games.

SOUTH DIVISION

1. Arizona (4-0)

W 49-45 vs Cal

The Wildcats are tough at Arizona stadium, but they did not start tough. Fortunately they ended on fire. What looked like a throttling at the hands of the Golden Bears, ended with Arizona scoring 36 points in the final quarter that was capped with a 47-yard Hail Mary from Anu Soloman to Austin Hill for the miraculous comeback. What looked like Arizona getting exposed, proved to expose Cal as their defense collapsed in the second half and allowed the Wildcats to rack up 627 total yards. Well played AZ.

2. #12 UCLA (3-0)

    4. Utah (3-0)

    At Michigan 26-10

Lightning and rain cannot stop Utah right now. After nearly 2 1/2 hour delay due to a passing storm, Utah went into the Big House and put a beat on a the Wolverines. Utah got a scare early when QB Travis Wilson took an errant dive out of bounds that took him out of the game for a while. Fortunately, the rest of the team kept on going an capitalized on 4 Michigan turnovers and a Wolverine team that seems to be getting worse and worse.

    W 21-12 vs Hawai’i

With all the games going on yesterday, can we confirm that anyone saw this game, or that it occurred at all? Yes and the Buffaloes had an eventful first half. It was a good thing they were in the lead because the Rainbow Warriors shut out Colorado in the latter half.
