On a night that UCLA defeated #7 Arizona, the school also honored former Bruin Russell Westbrook and at halftime, he led all of Pauley Pavilion in an “8 Clap”.

It was “Russell Westbrook Night” at Pauley Pavilion as UCLA honored the former Bruin after he made  a gracious contribution to the new UCLA Basketball facility, the Mo Ostin Center.

Last month, Westbrook donated over a million dollars to the facility, which is the largest gift given to the UCLA Athletic Department by any former student athlete. To show their appreciation, UCLA is naming the court in the new basketball facility, “Russell Westbrook Court”.

In addition to the court, UCLA made sure the night was all about the current Oklahoma City Thunder star as UCLA gave away eyeglass frames (similar to the ones Westbrook wears in his post game pressers), posters and honored him at halftime.

But that is where things got really special.

After UCLA gave a special video tribute to Westbrook, the NBA All-Star gave back one more time. After a speech thanking UCLA and Bruins everywhere, Westbrook led all of Pauley Pavilion in an “8 clap”, one of UCLA’s cheers. Clap along if you know the words…

It was definitely an exciting thing thing to experience if you were there (which I was) as Pauley Pavilion boomed as they backed up Westbrook on his special night. On top of that, the UCLA Basketball team took out #7 Arizona, which made this one exciting night to be a Bruin.

Thank you Westbrook and Go Bruins!
