UCLA Basketball held their end of the year banquet tonight and named graduating senior Norman Powell as the team’s MVP! That is right Bruin fans, one of the most beloved Bruins in recent history is your most valuable player for the 2014-15 season! I think he deserves an #8clap!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8… U! C! L! A! U-C-L-A! Fight fight fight!!!

More from UCLA Bruins Basketball

Just as the tweet states, “He has exemplified being a Bruin.” For the last four years, Powell has given his heart and soul to the UCLA basketball team and tonight his efforts have paid off as he joins a long list of distinguished Bruins as the winner of the Coach John Wooden Award.

Coming out of San Diego’s Lincoln High School in 2011, Powell was a 4-star shooing guard that was ranked #14 at his position. He was an explosive athlete that was also known for his defensive prowess, which was heavily utilized under former head coach Ben Howland.

But when the Bruins made a coaching switch (after Powell’s sophomore year) to Steve Alford and his up-tempo offense, we really got to see what Powell was made of. Not only was he a leader, but he was also a human highlight reel!

This past season, Powell lead the Bruins in scoring with 16.4 ppg, but leaves UCLA as #28 on the all-time scoring list. He also exits having played the fourth most games in UCLA history with 141.

Congratulations, Mr. Powell! You truly are one of the Bruin Greats!
