UCLA Now Controls Their Own Destiny In The Pac-12 South Division

So the Pac-12 South Division just got a lot crazier as #6 Arizona State was taken down by Oregon State and with that brings the rug out from under the Sun Devils and gives “control of their own destiny” to UCLA. Yes, that happened and we all saw it happen. What that means is that if the Bruin football team can win their last two games, they go to the Pac-12 Championship for the third time in the last four years. You did not see that coming, did you?

Before we dive into the breakdown for winning the Pac-12 South Division, let us look at the current standings:

Pac-12 South Division Standings

So here is the breakdown:

UCLA

As stated above, they control their own destiny. They need to beat USC and Stanford in their final two games to take the South. UCLA holds the tie-breaker against both Arizona schools and a win against USC would not only give them the head-to-head, but give the Trojans three loses with no other conference games to gain ground as this would be USC’s last Pac-12 game.

USC

The Trojans have to beat UCLA and have Arizona State lose one more game. The Sun Devils own the tie-breaker so nothing will happen for the Trojans if ASU does not stumble one more time.

Arizona State

ASU needs UCLA to lose one of their two final games, but more importantly, they need to win both of their final two games, including the last regular season game against rival Arizona.

Arizona

USC needs to lose to UCLA, UCLA then needs to lose to Stanford and the Wildcats need to win their last two games, including beating their rival Arizona State. Simple.

So right now, to avoid further calamity, UCLA just needs to win. They need to continue to keep fighting which begins next Saturday at the Rose Bowl for a two-game home stand. If they take care of business, then they will be meeting the Oregon Ducks for a revenge game and I am sure the Bruins would not mind a re-do on the big stage in Santa Clara, California.

Go Bruins!
