UCLA heads into their third game of the season against West Georgia. The Bruins look to get to 3-0 on the season. This will serve as the last tuneup game for them before they head to Arizona. The schedule only gets harder from here on out. As the Bruins look to fix key issues on the defensive glass and free throws.

West Georgia was 6-25 last season and are quite a few steps below UCLA in terms of talent. This is a game that should easily be won and a confidence booster. But the same was said about Eastern Washington and Pepperdine. Two games the Bruins were favorites in by 29.5 and 27.5 points and didn’t come close to covering either one.
UCLA cleaned up a lot of their defensive issues from game one into game two. Eastern Washington shot 53.7% from the field, while Pepperdine was down to 34.4%. That was a huge improvement and showed that the defense is there as long as they work together. The defense now needs to work on boxing out and not allowing 15 offensive rebounds to teams much smaller than them.

Rebounding still seems to be a problem for UCLA.

With all being said, UCLA needs to kick it into gear and they need to do it right now. This isn’t an experiment that they can sit and wait on. They need to win now, as there will be a lot of turnover after this season. You don’t go get a Donovan Dent to play it safe. This is the game UCLA displays the confidence that they need and click on both sides of the ball.
Prediction: UCLA 94 - West Georgia 57
