One unanswered question has come to an end. It was announced that the UCLA Bruins would continue to play their home games at the Rose Bowl for the 2026 season. There has been an ongoing battle whether the Bruins will move their home games to SoFi stadium in Inglewood in the future. After a report came out in the middle of last season that this was the Bruins plan. Ultimately trying to end their lease with the Rose Bowl to have a location closer to campus. It was met with many mixed reviews.

There are a lot of fans that love the Rose Bowl, but it has also come in to play the distance from UCLA campus. The move if it were to happen in the future would go from 26 miles to the Rose Bowl to 13 miles to SoFi stadium. Trying to boost the number of fans that make it to the game. Which we will see in the 2026 season because UCLA has a lot of hype surrounding them. We have seen 80,000 fans in the Rose Bowl under Jim Mora when the team was winning.
Obviously, the Chip Kelley era is skewed a little bit with the Covid times. But the Rose Bowl has been known to draw a large crowd when there is a good team on the field. Will Bob Chesney be able to spark that interest again? That is a question that remains to be answered. But will get that opportunity in the 2026 season. We don’t know if SoFi Stadium would bring in more fans. The distance is less but there are different logistics such as tailgating changes and parking.

2027 and beyond will continue to change rapidly, but at least we have an answer for 2026. As these next few months roll on, we will start to see ticket sales and how that is affected. Rose Bowl is a generational stadium that has amazing views. There is nothing like it in college sports from the tailgating to the sunset. It all radiates perfect vibes. Now it is time to see if UCLA can generate the interest again and fill the seats. Because the last two years have not been good at all.
