UCLA finished the season at Pauley Pavilion 17-1 on the year. Coming within a few seconds away from being a perfect 18-0. As a few late game mistakes, cost them against Indiana earlier in the season. They lost a thrilling game in overtime 98-97 on January 31st. The Bruins were night and day at home compared to being on the road. They were 4-6 on the road and then played some neutral matchups such as the one against Arizona in Inglewood.
Indiana wins a double OT classic over UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. A classic college basketball game with a semi controversial finish. Hoosiers kept possession with 1.5 seconds left in double OT off a deflection that looked like it clearly went off Indiana. A foul and FT followed.

Unfortunately, for the Bruins, they’re not able to play their NCAA tournament games at Pauley Pavilion. If they were, they might be the best team in the tournament! But the cards don’t fall that way, and UCLA will need to find some consistency outside of their home building. We know that teams play better at home in front of their fans. But there usually is not this much of a gap when it comes to home and road.
The Bruins have to find a way to play better and replicate some sort of success outside of Westwood. This can be a very good team that can make a run. But they can also be a team that gets bounced in the round of 64 or round of 32 and no one would bat an eye. UCLA has shown they can play elite defense when they work together and play with chemistry. They can also score the basketball when they start to move it around. With multiple guys that can space the floor by shooting 3-pointers, led by Skyy Clark.
UCLA obliterates No. 9 Nebraska at Pauley Pavilion to move to 20-10 on the season and 12-7 in the Big Ten with one conference game to play at USC. UCLA is 1-6 in quad 1 this year on the road and 4-0 at home. The wins over Nebraska, Illinois and Purdue saved their season with their backs against the wall three different occasions. It is the reason why they will be in the NCAA tournament most likely. But then you look at games like Cal and Minnesota on the road and say how is this team so different? UCLA is also 0-2 in neutral site quad 1 games, although they played decent against Arizona and Gonzaga. It remains to be seen what team we get for the Big Ten tournament and March Madness.
