UCLA is set to take on Washington tonight as the Bruins prepare to open their Big Ten slate of the schedule. It is set to be a grueling season and they will need to fix their mistakes quickly if they want to compete for a title. This Bruins team is built to win now and with their showing so far this season it has not looked great with those hopes. Donovan Dent who is battling a lower leg injury is expected to play. Tyler Bilodeau the Bruins leading scorer is still considered day-to-day.

The Bruins will need to continue to win the rebound battle as well as control the paint. They have greatly improved upon this since the start of the season. Receiving good play from the Xavier Booker and Steven Jamerson II minutes. This is crucial as the Bruins are trying to get back to their traditional starting lineup this year. Often struggling against big teams in 2024 having to run three guard and two forward sets. While sprinkling in some Aday Mara minutes.
Where the Bruins really need their focus to be is shot selection and knocking down their free throws. Against the Cal Golden Bears, the Bruins were forcing a lot of their offense and making mistakes. Then when they would get to the free throw line, they would struggle to make the freebies. They cannot expect to do that every game and come away with wins. These are now top tier opponents and mistakes are going to be more costly, the deeper into season they go.
UCLA's Tyler Bilodeau (knee) is day to day and Donovan Dent, who sustained a lower-leg injury against Cal, is expected to play against Washington on Wednesday.

Tonight is a night that UCLA can get it right. Donovan Dent has been struggling and is battling an injury. But this is the night he shows why he was the star player in the transfer portal. The Bruins will start fast and easily cover as a 1.5-point road favorite. Opening up Big Ten play with a win and setting the stage to get the season back on track.
Prediction: UCLA 78 - Washington 70
