Last season, the UCLA women's basketball team faced off against the LSU Tigers in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. However, Kim Mulkey's squad, who was the favorite, defeated the Bruins and ended their hopes of advancing to their first-ever Final Four. Now, head coach Cori Close and UCLA are favored in the matchup and the Bruins are fighting for program history on Sunday.

UCLA vs. LSU prediction
While Kim Mulkey and LSU may have more March Madness experience than Cori Close and UCLA, the Bruins are just too difficult for any opponent to stop. Lauren Betts is playing her best basketball at the right time and has been a major problem for opposing defenses, as she is averaging 30.5 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game in the last two rounds. She is also shooting an absurd 87.8% from the floor in that stretch, making 29 of her last 33 shots.
The Tigers have plenty of offensive firepower with their star trio of Flau'jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow, and Mikaylah Williams, but they lack the high-end talent down low to compete with Betts. If 6-foot-5 sophomore Jersey Wolfenbarger or 6-foot-6 sophomore Aalyah Del Rosario can play meaningful minutes, it may ease the burden, but neither of these players have scored since the first round of the Tournament.
It will be a closely contested battle, but UCLA should escape with a win and be set for an appearance in the program's first-ever Final Four in Tampa, Florida next week.
