UCLA women’s basketball is set to face their biggest test of the season next week. They will face number four Texas as they look to continue their tremendous 2025 start. The Bruins, who are currently 5-0 will look to get to 6-0 before facing Texas. As they host Southern University as large favorites on Sunday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion. The expectation is that they will cruise to an easy win setting up an undefeated showdown with Texas.
Texas is currently averaging 104 points per game through their first five games. With three wins of over 60 points and their offense and defense both playing at an elite level. They have established themselves as true contenders for a March run. With five girls averaging double digit points and eight averaging at least 7.5 points per game.

Their strength of schedule hasn’t been super hard. They do have a win over number 24 Richmond. Giving them a small positive strength of schedule. But UCLA still has passed the better test with two top 15 wins over Oklahoma and North Carolina. The Bruins are also playing lights out on both sides of the ball. Led by Lauren Betts who could be the number one pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.

UCLA made the Final Four last year. Now they return their whole team that is better and smarter. They are playing with tremendous chemistry and are communicating well. Gianna Kneepkens has slid right in and helped elevate the team. With Betts, Kneepkens and Kiki Rice all projected to be top eight picks in the WNBA Draft. This UCLA team looks ready to pass another test and establish their odds as March Madness favorites.
