UCLA opened up the game with a three and out. Then allowed Nebraska to drive up the field and take a 7-0 lead. UCLA responded well to tie it at seven but then fell apart from there when Garrett DiGiorgio went out. The offensive line struggled to keep Nico protected and Nico ran for his life.

Although Iamaleava picked up quite a few rushing yards. It is not a recipe for success long-term to have your quarterback run on every play. Nebraska has an elite pass defense and they feast on getting teams into obvious pass situations. Which UCLA was in most of the first half and guys had trouble getting open with such short windows. Emmett Johnson was tearing the UCLA defense apart and there were a lot of poor tackling displays going on.

Moving into the second half, Nebraska opened up the half by receiving the ball. With a 21-7 lead already at hand they continued to move the ball with ease and Johnson scored his third touchdown of the game. UCLA defense was struggling; four drives equaled four touchdowns. TJ Lateef as a backup quarterback starts 8-8 for 163 yards.

The offense although struggling to keep Nico off the ground still. Get a beautiful play call by Jerry Neuheisel to get Anthony Woods open in space for a long touchdown, cutting it to 28-14. UCLA would continue to drive the ball well with Iamaleava using his legs. Leading to them scoring another touchdown by Anthony Frias II to cut the lead to 28-21.

But with the game on the line. The defense had the opportunity to get the Bruins offense the ball back, and they could not get stops. This was a theme for most of the night as Lateef and Johnson made it look easy. Nebraska walks away with a 28-21 win at the Rose Bowl as they move to 7-3 on the season and push UCLA to 3-6. Basically making a bowl game impossible.

To make matters worse it does not get any easier for UCLA as they now head on the road to face number one Ohio State. With a battered offensive line and a defense that struggles to get off the field. It could make for a very long day in Columbus.
