Tyler Bilodeau was the Bruins leading scorer this season at 17.6 points per game. If UCLA wants to pull the upset on Sunday against UCONN. It would be a huge boost if they were to have Bilodeau back in the lineup. He is a great scoring forward from all over the floor. The team will need to have better offense if they want to win this game. If they play the way they did against UCF, they would need to play elite defense to come away with a victory. Having every ounce of offense they can get will only help this team.
Spoke with Tyler Bilodeau, who Mick Cronin kept out in UCLA’s first-round win over UCF:

“I woke up a little bit sore, and ultimately Coach decided to hold me out … Who doesn’t want to play in March Madness? It’s tough.”
When asked about Sunday: “Just taking it day by day.” pic.twitter.com/fVM0UO4xhS
Bilodeau has now led UCLA in scoring the last two seasons. It is no secret that the Bruins are a much better team when he is in the lineup. He provides spacing to the offense, and it is less congested when he plays. His ability to shoot the 3-point shot helps all players on the floor be able to operate better. Because the inside of the arc is more open. Teams have to respect the space that he can provide.
UCLA is a very good No. 7 seed that is playing their best basketball at the right time. They most likely would be a No. 3 or No. 4 seed possibly if they were fully healthy during the Big Ten tournament. As they took Purdue down to the final minute even without their top two players. It is a belief if they had Donovan Dent and Bilodeau in that game, they win it and advance to the championship. Quite possibly beating Michigan and having a higher seed.
Now with the NCAA tournament here, the Bruins look to have a full team on Sunday. If they’re able to do that, that gives them a really good chance against UCONN. UCLA is playing much better on the defensive end over the last month and playing with more efficient offense. Bilodeau is a large part of the success. Having him out on the floor will only help this team in a positive way. As they look to make a Cinderella run in March.
Mick Cronin unsure if UCLA leading scorer Tyler Bilodeau will be ready to play tomorrow night.
