KJ Perry committed to BYU last season after being the No. 1 JUCO player in the country. He attended Citrus College for the 2024-25 season and had a really good year. That led to him getting a ton of interest from high major schools. Ultimately choosing BYU. He did not log any minutes in his sophomore season for them. Leading to him hitting the transfer portal and UCLA being linked as interested. As reported by Brandon Jenkins of 247.

The 6-2 guard was ranked the country's No. 1 JUCO player, per JUCO recruiting, after one season at Citrus College.

Perry is a 6’3 guard and since he redshirted this season. He will have three years of eligibility remaining for a new school. There will be tons of teams that are interested in him along with UCLA. He is a guard that can score the ball very well. As he averaged 17.5 points per game at Citrus over 32 games. He did that on 49.5% shooting and 34.7% 3-point shooting.

He had one of the best JUCO games of the season in 2024-25 as he dropped 48 points in a win over Santiago Canyon. Showing how versatile his game is as he is able to get to the basket and also can get hot shooting. He also is from the Pacific Palisades. Which goes to show why he is getting so much interest from California teams. Hopefully that could help play a positive part in UCLA pursuing him.

It should not be read into too much that he did not play at BYU last year. He enrolled midway through the season and the goal was to redshirt him to keep the eligibility. He is a flat out talent and would be a good addition to this back court. Him and returning star Trent Perry could form a really good scoring back court. As UCLA tries to rebuild their team after losing Tyler Bilodeau, Skyy Clark and Donovan Dent.
