UCLA cruises to victory in last tune up game against Presbyterian

The six game stretch to open the season with a guarantee of at least five wins is now over. UCLA is about to get into the part of the schedule that is going to determine their future outlook. Big Ten opponents, ranked opponents, you name it, UCLA will see it. The Bruins may need to enter that without Tyler Bilodeau who is battling injury. But it needs to be next man up mentality with this team and Brandon Williams had his best game yet with 11 points.

Skyy Clark showed how good he can be for the Bruins as he got whatever he wanted. 9-11 on the night for 22 points and scored buckets with ease. Jamar Brown and Trent Perry who figure to be the top two off the bench each chipped in nine points. Then star point guard Donovan Dent had 14 points and five assists. Team effort will be needed if Bilodeau continues to miss time as he is not an easy player to replace.

One area that UCLA continued to struggle on his free-throw shooting. They were 16-24 on the night, going back to their old ways of leaving points on the floor. You are not going to go 100% from the line. But if you can get 80% you are giving yourself a better chance each night at five to seven extra points. That will be crucial against teams like Purdue, Michigan and Michigan State.

UCLA will begin their Big Ten schedule soon. Which is sure to be a fun one this season of teams playing close games and battling. The Big Ten is currently 83-6 combined and six teams in the AP top 25. With Indiana, USC, Oregon and Ohio State all getting votes, putting 10 teams in the top 30. It is set to be a grind this season in the race to win the Big Ten and head into March Madness with a high seed.
