Each team could win the Victory Bell and receive Crosstown Cup points in this vital game. Both teams need this win in order to obtain bowl eligibility, with UCLA needing to win this game and their final regular season game against Fresno State, and USC, with a win over the Bruins, would become bowl eligible because if they don't, they would then have to upset No. 6 ranked Notre Dame.
USC and UCLA have both been very inconsistent throughout the season. USC has looked amazing in their win over LSU and Wisconsin but has lost some head-stretching games against Maryland and Michigan. Even in the games they lost against Penn State and Washington, the Trojans played well but just couldn't find a way to win those games.
UCLA did not start off the season on a good note, with their only win being in their season opener. Their home losses to Indiana and Oregon were not competitive games but they had two impressive wins on the road against Rutgers and Nebraska. Even in their loss to Minnesota, the Bruins played well enough to win but didn't.
The Trojans and the Bruins do have common opponents that they have faced this season. USC defeated LSU and UCLA lost to them. Both teams defeated Nebraska and Rutgers and both the Trojans and the Bruins lost to Washington and Penn State.
This game is difficult to call because both teams have been inconsistent this season. UCLA has a slight edge because it plays this game at home in the Rose Bowl and has won three of its last four games, while USC has lost five of its previous eight games.
UCLA is going to beat USC with a score of 34–28 in the game prediction.
