Trent Perry has gotten off to a blistering start for UCLA. He has shown the tremendous growth that he has had from his freshman to sophomore year. Displaying confidence on both sides of the ball and becoming a key contributor. His first start against West Georgia culminated in 17 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds. Taking the place of injured star Donovan Dent.

Perry seemed prime to be a breakout candidate this year for the team. But not to the level that he has shown so far. Being one of the best players on the team. His freshman season he was looked at as a spark plug on the defensive end. Now, with more opportunities, we get to see the full display in action. It is amazing what confidence can do to a player's game and when people give you the opportunity to make an impact.

This is a big year for UCLA. They have high March Madness expectations. Perry along with Jamar Brown will be first two off the bench. Both will be expected to play large parts in what UCLA wants to accomplish. In what most likely will be an eight-man rotation later in the season. With Steven Jamerson II flanking minutes to Xavier Booker in a center rotation.

Perry is averaging 12.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds on the season. His 3-point shot will eventually catch on and make his efficiency better. He is currently 3-13 on the season. But there is no reason to believe his ascension will slow down. As he is playing with a newfound confidence with better playmakers around him. That is a welcome sight for the Bruins who enter some stiff competition moving forward.
