Tim Skipper had a chance to put some major pressure on the school with an upset win against Indiana. UCLA who was riding a three game win streak that sparked national attention, could not pull the feat off. They went into Bloomington and suffered an embarrassing 56-6 loss. Basically, ending the chances of Skipper winning the permanent job.

New No. 1 team in the country coming soon? 👀 pic.twitter.com/qJtFtaldsy
Skipper has done a tremendous job with the Bruins this season. Guiding them to a 3-2 record. They started the season 0-4 before Jerry Neuheisel and Kevin Coyle were called upon to lead the offense and defense. It was seen as desperate moves as Coyle had struggled at previous stops and Neuheisel had never called plays before.
Both worked instantly and UCLA upset Penn State and then beat Michigan State and Maryland. But the last two weeks teams have caught on to Neuheisel’s offense and has exposed weaknesses. This is why these coaches are paid millions of dollars, especially in the Big Ten. Find where these play callers struggle and exploit it. Neuheisel is learning that hard reality.

Coyle’s defense didn’t play as bad as the statistics may suggest. They were put in tough positions all day long. They played really well on 1st and 2nd down, but you cannot let a team go 14-18 on 3rd down and expect great things to happen. It will be an emphasis on tape during the bye week.
This staff has made some incredible strides with the team this season. But with the direction UCLA wants to head, another coach and staff is probably still likely. Each of them has the opportunity to coach down the stretch for their futures. Neuheisel is a lifelong Bruin that may still latch on with a role. Skipper and Coyle could once again follow each other to a new school.
