He has in a very short period of time, revived UCLA football and has the Bruins' football program heading in the right direction.

His instant success as the interim coach and his capacity to swiftly revitalize the team culture under trying circumstances have given the UCLA coach searching committe a lot to think about.

The Bruins have shown a significant offensive improvement under Skipper, especially in the surprising victory over Penn State, with new offensive play-caller Jerry Neuheisel. With 280 running yards and 446 total offensive yards, the offense produced a five-touchdown performance from quarterback Nico Iamaleava. In order to streamline the offense and get the ball to playmakers, Skipper has placed a strong emphasis on an offensive approach. The offense then had another outstanding offensive performance against Michigan State on the road.

Tim Skipper led the Bruins to an incredible upset victory over then No. 7-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions after assuming control of a 0–3 team that was not playing well at all to begin the season. Even in his first game as interim coach, UCLA played very well on the road in the second half against Northwestern and lost by only three points to the Wildcats. He has shown his capacity to produce quick, major effects, which was a huge morale boost with their victory over Penn State and one of the program's most memorable victories in recent memory.

Skipper appears to have an "inspired belief" and has created a positive locker room culture that "otherwise would've been impossible to discover," with now let go former UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster. The players have responded favorably to his "why not me?" mentality, which is in part based on his personal experience as a coach who has been an interim head coach but not a permanent FBS head football coach.

What many expected to be a letdown game on the road against Michigan State, UCLA, after giving up a touchdown to begin the game, scored 38 unanswered points in their upset over the Spartans on their homecoming game. The Bruins not only won their second game of the season, and got their first road victory of the season, and they won the game in dominating fashion.

Even with the recent rumors of UCLA possibly pursuing Washington's current head Jedd Fisch, as their next head coach, Skipper needs to be seriously considered as the next full-time head coach of the UCLA football program.

Skipper is focused, doesn't make excuses, and he clearly has done an excellent job of motivating his players and turning around the season for UCLA. Second, the second half of the Northwestern game, this UCLA team looks like a bowl team that has more wins on its schedule in Big Ten conference play.
