A continuing of legacy will begin under the Jones-Drew name. One of the best running backs in school history in Maurice Jones-Drew will now have his son attending the same college that he did. Duece Jones-Drew committed to UCLA after also receiving offers from Arizona, California and Utah. His commitment also comes a day after UCLA nabbed Jayshon Gibson. Which raised questions if they would be able to get Jones-Drew as well.

Those doubts came to an end on Sunday afternoon as Jones-Drew made the announcement. The 3-star running back out of De La Salle High School in Concord, CA is the No. 56 ranked player in CA and No. 44 running back in the nation. Helping solidify what has been a phenomenal weekend for the UCLA Bruins. One that has seen them get many recruits and move up to the No. 4 2027 recruiting class as ranked by 247sports.
Duece has a very similar build to what his dad was at 5’8 and 180 pounds. He has quick acceleration and speed and is very muscular. His dad is one of the best all-around backs in college football history and possibly the best UCLA has ever seen. But it is so cool to see another Jones-Drew in a UCLA uniform soon. Regardless of any shoes that he has to fill in what his dad provided.

Duece is a track star as well and excels in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes. Duece will look to have a big senior season before signing day and then getting to UCLA and getting to work. The Bruins figure to still be players and looking for a power back. But with two all-around backs with Gibson and Jones-Drew it will be fun to see how they’re utilized in the future. It will also be great to see the legacy of MJD move to DJD.
