Somto Cyril just entered the transfer portal out of Georgia and becomes a very intriguing name to add to the list. Cyril has legit shot-blocking abilities and can change the game on the defensive end for a team. He averaged 2.2 blocks per game at Georgia last year and is very athletic at the center position. Standing at 6’11 and 260 pounds, he creates a large presence down low on offense and defense. He will have two years of eligibility remaining for his new school.
NEWS: Georgia center Somto Cyril plans to enter the @TransferPortal, he tells @On3. ⁰⁰The 6-11 sophomore led the SEC in blocks per game (2.34) and was all SEC-Defensive team. Averaged 9.3 points and 5.4 boards as well.

Cyril could be an intriguing prospect that UCLA could look at to fill their center position. He averaged 9.3 points per game last season and did so on 75.9% shooting. He doesn’t take many shots per game, but he can roll well and cleans up missed shots. UCLA needs to find someone who can stick at the center position instead of rotating people in and out. Cyril could be that option for them and has power four experience.
The two years of eligibility remaining for him is a huge factor as well. There are a lot of players that are hitting the transfer portal that will only have one year of eligibility. If you can get a guy to stay multiple years and build him in your system. That is a huge bonus, especially in this NIL era that is completely dominating things. The hope is that Cyril will give you two years and continue to grow his game over that timespan.
Somto Cyril has the ability to be an NBA player. Looks the part.

Elite block numbers, 80% at the rim.
Has the chance to an all conference guy if he cuts down the fouls and improves the FT shooting. pic.twitter.com/3g57FpPocL
Cyril had 20 games this season with at least two blocks in a game. He also had a career high eight blocks in a win over Arkansas. Which was a big-time showing considering that Arkansas was able to make a small run in the NCAA tournament. It probably caught the eye of John Calipari as well. It wouldn’t be surprising for them to be players in the portal for Cyril. Regardless, who is able to land him they will get a very talented player that is really athletic.
