Russell Westbrook continues to make NBA history at 37 years old. The former UCLA guard has now entered the top five in NBA history for all-time assists. Passing Mark Jackson and Steve Nash last night against the San Antonio Spurs with his 10,336th career assist. It has been amazing to watch his NBA career and everything he’s been able to accomplish. He is the all-time leader in triple doubles with 208 and now is in rare NBA company as a top five passer of all-time.

208 IN HIS CAREER 🤯 pic.twitter.com/j8JYx0XQvM
Westbrook was not seen as a player that was going to be able to break all of these records. He came into the NBA in 2008 as a defensive first player being drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics. Who just a short time after that would become the Oklahoma City Thunder. He quickly would become a star for the team alongside another NBA Hall of Famer in Kevin Durant. Helping lead them to the NBA Finals in 2012. But over time, the team would be hampered by injuries and ultimately Durant would leave in 2016.
Westbrook stuck around to lead the Thunder into a new era. Becoming the NBA MVP in 2017 after he averaged a triple double that season. Rewriting record books by the night and putting up video game numbers. Now all of the hard work he has put in over his 18-year NBA career is putting him in NBA history. Nash and Jackson were amazing passers and now Westbrook passes both of them, while also being 14th all time in points scored.

Westbrook is also still a huge supporter of his alma mater UCLA Bruins. Donating to the college on multiple occasions and loves to represent the college. He will forever have his name in the record books in the NBA. With UCLA always being attached to his name. Putting together a long list of UCLA guards that have succeeded in the NBA. Giving them the nickname of NBA U. Congratulations on the honor Westbrook!
