Anthony Woods transferred to UCLA for the 2025 season. After spending two seasons with Idaho in 2022 and 2023. Then spending a season with Utah, in which he did not play a game due to injury. In 2022 and 2023 he showed to be a very good running back. As he ran for 2,027 yards and 19 touchdowns in his two seasons there. He was expected to play a big role in the UCLA backfield. But just like most players in 2025, he battled inconsistency in the offense. An early season injury also did not help his outlook.

Woods was responsible for scoring the first touchdown of the 2025 UCLA season. That was one of the big highlights. Other than that, the UCLA backfield was a revolving door. With five different players getting carries and not really establishing a lead back. Now in his senior season he looks to make an impact in possibly a passing down and power back. It will not be easy with Wayne Knight coming over as a transfer but the talent is there as evidenced by his time in Idaho. But the pieces will all need to be put together and maintain health.

The positive is the Bruins offense should be much better this season. They will have a better offensive line in place and more overall talent. Woods is a good pass catcher as last season he had 24 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Providing Knight, the opportunity to get a rest, as he is almost certain to win the starting running back job. After being a star last season at James Madison.

Woods had the opportunity to hit the transfer portal this off-season. But he decided to stick with this UCLA team. Dean Kennedy will be tasked with incorporating him into the offense. But he has the rapport with Nico Iamaleava and the returning players. Giving an outlook of being a decent change of pace back. It will be exciting to see what new level the UCLA offense can go to for the 2026 season.
