Kevin Love has carved out a nice NBA career for himself. Five time All Star, one of the best rebounders in the league, NBA Champion, and two time All NBA. Also adding a Three Point contest title to his accolades. But it all started at UCLA for one season. A season that was one of the most dominant in school history.

Love paired with another UCLA great in Russell Westbrook to lead a Final Four run. Ultimately losing to a Derrick Rose led Memphis Tigers. Love finished that season as the PAC 10 Player of the Year and consensus first-team All-American. There were rarely any teams that could stop him from rebounding or scoring. Highlighting many games with his pure strength on full court passes that impressed even the best of legends.

Playing in 39 games for the 2007-2008 season, Love had averages of 17.5 points and 10.6 rebounds. On the season he had 23 double doubles and scored in double digits in all 39 games. Doing so on 55.9/35.4/76.7 shooting splits. Which is all above average for the center position. His true shooting percentage was 64.4% and had an unheard of 22.1% total rebound. Domination at its finest and still one of the best seasons for a Bruins big man ever.

Love is now trickling down the end of his career. Providing a veteran presence to a young Utah Jazz team. Rather than complaining about it, he has embraced the opportunity to pass on knowledge. Although he could’ve gone straight to the NBA after high school. We are happy his one and done was spent at UCLA and we can cherish those highlights every once in a while. Adding to a rich tradition of UCLA players that not only excelled at the school but also in the NBA at the highest level.
