UCLA is rising up in the state of California college basketball power rankings
Due to their strong play at the beginning of the month and placement in our power rankings, a few teams in the state of California are setting themselves apart from other teams and one of those teams is UCLA.

Let's examine the power rankings for Division I men's college basketball teams that play in the state of California and look at how UCLA has risen up in the rankings.
Here is the second state rankings for California for the 2023–2024 season as we are at the mid way point in February. Let's look at the programs that make up these power rankings and how they were arrived at, and why.
Are the rankings that each team is analyzed and look closely at, as determined by the rankings below, the only things taken into account when determining these rankings for college basketball?
No, and even though these teams' conference schedules differ, some have had more noteworthy non-conference victories than others, and certain schools have successful climbed up the conference standings at the midway point of the month, the ranking systems covered in these state of California power rankings still have a significant influence on the rankings.
Are these rankings arbitrary and up for debate?
Given that no power rating is perfect or optimal, the answer is yes. Unlike other college basketball power rankings, the state of California power rankings were created using specific criteria. These rankings for these teams are tough, challenging, and subject to debate by fans, reporters, and alumni of these California universities who study and debate these teams and basketball programs that reside in the state of California and how well they are doing this season.
