Playing opposite Laiatu Latu, Gabriel Murphy drew plenty of one-on-ones last season and he made the most of those opportunities posting an 18.4% pass rush win rate with 61 total pressures, just one short of his first-round counterpart.
The Texans added a franchise cornerstone to their defensive line last season by trading up to No. 3 for Will Anderson Jr. after grabbing C.J. Stroud, but the Texans will need to add depth to that group. Jonathan Greenard is an impending free agent, but even if they resign him, edge is still a priority for DeMeco Ryans’s defense.
Murphy will likely begin his career as a pass-rush specialist because his run defense is a question mark, especially with his size at 6-foot-2 249 pounds.
