Lew Alcindor was hands down the greatest college basketball player of all time and his dominance will never be replicated. UCLA went 86-4 over his three seasons and he averaged 26.4 points and 15.5 rebounds while shooting 63.9% from the field.
He was named the Player of the Year twice, was a three-time All-NCAA Tournament team selection, three-time NCAA All-Region, three-time Final Four Most Outstanding Player, and three-time Consensus All-American.
Alcindor’s UCLA teams went a perfect 12-0 in the tournament with an average margin of victory of 22.2 points and in those games, he averaged 25.3 points and 16.8 rebounds. His greatest game over that dominant tournament run came against Purdue in the 1969 National Championship in which he scored 37 points and grabbed 20 rebounds en route to a 92-72 win.
