Nico Iamaleava looks cleared to play for the UCLA Bruins as they play the USC Trojans to finish the season. Iamaleava who has been nursing injuries most of the last month was questionable this week. It had been talked about whether it was in the best interest for Iamaleava to play in the game. As he could possibly transfer after this season if he doesn’t declare for the NFL Draft. UCLA has struggled all season up front trying to keep Iamaleava upright, which has led to wear and tear.

Iamaleava has shown his toughness this season in what has been a roller coaster ride. One thing is for certain is even when times are hard, he is going to try and play until the end. Not letting any outside chatter affect his decision making. You have to applaud the effort in going out there for his guys and competing. It has been a down year for him and one that came with a lot of hype. After being one of the top players in the transfer portal. Only to see the coach Deshaun Foster that got him let go three games into the season.

Iamaleava helped lead Tennessee to the College Football Playoff last year. He was expected to provide stability to the UCLA quarterback position and put them in position to compete in the Big Ten. His running ability makes him a dual threat quarterback, but lack of protection has really hurt him. As receivers are being overmatched against elite defenses because there isn’t enough time to get the ball off. It has been a trickle down effect after UCLA went on a three game winning streak after starting 0-4.

USC will always bring out the best in UCLA. These are their rivals, and the Victory Bell is the last important thing left to play for. Iamaleava will be under center to take those snaps. Against a USC defense that is vulnerable to the big play. Iamaleava whether he decides to come back for another season or has other options in mind. He will lay it all on the line for the Bruins at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
