Markus Burton enters the transfer portal out of Notre Dame with a ton of intrigue. This kid can flat out score of the basketball and should have two years of eligibility left. He is coming off of a broken ankle that cost him most of the season. He only played in 10 games on the season, which should allow him to petition for another year of eligibility. That would give him the opportunity at another junior year and another chance to build his NBA Draft profile.

The 6-foot junior was limited to just 10 games this season due to injury, but led the ACC in scoring a year ago, averaging 23.5 PPG in league play. Represented by Octagon.… pic.twitter.com/MRRaCcknzd
Burton can play both sides of the floor as not only being a scorer bit also a defender. Over his 69 games in college he is averaged 1.8 steals per game. Showing that he can help a team get out in transition with turnover opportunities. Another area that UCLA needs to continue to improve upon. Burton is a quick and shifty guard that runs the floor very well. It will be intriguing to see how he bounces back from his injury.
Burton will give you plenty of offensive punch. He has averaged 19.1 points per game in his 69 college career games. Including his sophomore season where he averaged 21.5 points per game on 44.2% shooting and 37.5% from 3-point range. His scoring abilities also translate to being a good free-throw shooter as well. As he averages 4.7 attempts per game and shoots 84.7% from the line.

UCLA will continue to build their roster over the next month. The transfer portal will allow them to go out and get talent that will immediately help. With the new recruits in Joe Philon and Javonte Floyd and all the players coming back. UCLA will be left with four open scholarship positions. That will allow them a ton of flexibility on their next moves in rebuilding this team.
