UCLA was fresh off of a 50-point loss to the Indiana Hoosiers. They were now back at home against Nebraska as a 1.5-point favorite looking to get back on track. The team was 3-5 and had a date with Ohio State the following game. Going into that game 4-5 would give them an outside chance to make a bowl game. Nebraska was a game that they could definitely win if they played the way they did against Penn State and Michigan State.
With the Bruins looking to make this a bounce back game. They struggled to find any consistency on offense and played from behind most of the game. Which included Nebraska jumping out to a 28-7 lead and UCLA trying to play catch-up before running out of time. TJ Lateef started his first college game and ripped the UCLA defense. Going 13-15 on the night for 205 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Good for a blistering QBR of 98.8.

Emmett Johnson had a fantastic night for Nebraska as he ran for 129 yards and a touchdown. He also had three catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Sending UCLA back into a spiral on defense. One that had come so far during their three-game winning streak. Before they ran into Indiana and Nebraska and it came tumbling down. Kevin Coyle was searching for answers and how to correct them into the stretch run of the season.

Nico Iamaleava was on the run for most of the night again. As the protection continued to break down in front of him. He did have a decent night going 17-25 for 191 yards and two touchdowns. He also made many plays with his legs throughout the night, running for 86 yards on the ground. There were many times the UCLA drive should’ve ended, but he made another play. But at some point, he received a concussion and would not be able to play the following game against No. 1 Ohio State.
