Lauren Betts is one of the best players in college basketball. She opened up her last NCAA tournament run with a dominant 22 point and 10 rebound double double against Cal Baptist. Betts is one of the best players to ever come through UCLA and she looks to finish her career with a national championship. Then go on to be a top WNBA Draft pick and put together a long professional career.

Betts is a dominant player on both ends of the floor and UCLA will go as far as she takes them. She can impact the game by scoring in the paint or on the defensive end block shots and affect the game that way. UCLA might have the best defense in the nation, and she anchors it down low. While Kiki Rice and Gabriela Jaquez are out front to shut down guards, penetrating or shooting. This UCLA team is very good and the best one that they have ever had.

Betts stats were down this year from her 2024 season. But UCLA did not need her to go for 20 and 10 every single game for success. When this team brought in Gianna Kneepkens and Charlisse Leger-Walker as grad transfers, it made them even better. There is only one ball to go around, and these women have great chemistry. None of them care about being a star on a nightly basis. As they could easily all go for 20 and they rotate who is going to be the top scorer.

Betts started off this season a little slow as she battled an injury. It came to head against Texas earlier in the season. A battle of top five teams in the nation. UCLA lost that game in a close one where Betts was battling an elbow injury. That remains the only loss that the Bruins have on the season. They’re now on a 26-game winning streak and have been completely blowing out teams. Let’s just hope it ends with a championship for these ladies that are graduating out and have put so much work in.
