Lauren Betts returned to her dominate self this past week. She is a two-way player that can anchor an offense and anchor a defense. That is very rare in basketball. Betts has had a slow start to this season. Even battling an elbow injury that seems to affect her a bit. But it looks as if she is getting healthy again and playing her best basketball. So much to the point that she was just named AP Player of the Week.
Betts was projected at the beginning of the year to be the number one pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft. But has since slipped due to her play. She is more than capable of making her way back up the draft boards as well. Her week was powered by a 24 point, 14 rebound and 5 block effort versus Oregon. Handing the Ducks their first loss of the season and anchoring the Bruins from start to finish. We started to see flashbacks of the Betts we know that can be so dominate on the outcome.

The Bruins sit at 9-1 on the season and playing their best basketball. Betts can continue to build on her Player of the Week honors. As the Bruins have nine ranked opponents still left on the schedule for this season. They will need the best out of everyone as they continue their quest to win it all in March. Betts can combine her superstar talents with a plethora of teammates around her also playing well. Such as Gianna Kneepkens who has been the perfect transfer addition to the team.

These honors are a huge step in getting one of the best players in the nation back to her old self. The Bruins know this season is boom or bust. They have the talent to win it all. But it will not come easy. Texas, South Carolina and UCONN are all very good and deep teams. They will need to piece it all together and that starts with Betts leading the way. She has done it before, and Bruins fans know she can do it again.
