Kenley McCarn hits the transfer portal as an intriguing name at guard

The transfer portal for the women is starting to fill up. Another good scoring guard out UT Martin in Kenley McCarn has inserted her name into the mix now. She was a redshirt freshman that has one year of eligibility remaining. She only played in four games, her original freshman year, giving her an extra year of eligibility. Her four years of experience shows her veteran leadership and could slot in well to this UCLA starting lineup.

McCarn has played in 98 career games for UT Martin. She has averaged 15.5 points per game over those 98 games. Totaling 1,516 career points. Her scoring ability will make her a good candidate to find a high major for her senior year. She shoots 41.9% from the field for her career, including 43% this past season in her junior year. She only shot 33.1% from 3-point range. But has shown flashes that she can make that shot as she shot 37.2% on 5.7 attempts in 2023.

McCarn also is a capable defender that could help out UCLA as they lose a lot of talent. She averaged 1.7 steals per game this past season and for her career average is 1.4 per game. UCLA will need to do a lot to try and replicate some of the defensive success they had in 2025 They were the best in the country and many categories and although they won’t be level with that. They can do their best to try and be close to it.

Cori Close has shown she knows the recipe for success. She went out and got Lauren Betts, Charlisse Leger-Walker and Gianna Kneepkens as transfers over the last three years. Now she has the task of doing something larger than she’s ever done before. Replace her top six players that are heading to the WNBA. It will not be an easy challenge but that nice championship banner is a good starting point for transfers to look at.
