Jrue Holiday is in his 17th year in the NBA. After spending one season at UCLA as a freshman in 2008. Being the player brought in to replace Russell Westbrook. He has gone on to have a great NBA career. HIs one season at UCLA didn’t jump off the charts stat wise. But he was NBA ready from the jump and just spending that one bridge year at college before he knew he was gone. Holiday was ready for the NBA going into a senior year of high school. He was that good.

The Blazers were considered an up-and-coming team, not expected to make big noise in a packed Western Conference. Holiday was traded to the team before the season started expected to provide better in leadership. He has done that and more for this young team and has them competing well in the playoffs. They stole game two on the road against San Antonio. Then were up 16 in game three with a chance to take a 2-1 lead, before falling apart.

Even with the Spurs playing without Victor Wembanyama they were favorites and the Blazers have held up well. A big part of that is what Holiday has been able to do. And gained three he was amazing on both ends of the floor. As he shot 12-18 from the floor for 29 points, while also having six rebounds, five assists and four steals. It is fun to watch what former UCLA players are doing in the NBA. Especially ones in year 17.

UCLA has been long known to send some very good guards to the NBA. Westbrook, Holiday, Zach LaVine and Norman Powell just to name a few. Holiday has gone on to become a two-time NBA champion, two-time All-Star and six-time All-Defense. Everywhere he goes the team wins and his impact on winning is immeasurable. It doesn’t just come in the form of stats, it comes from what he does and what he provides far beyond that.
