Jamier Jones is another wing that just hit the transfer portal. He had a good freshman season for Providence and enters with three years of eligibility left. He has a smooth scoring game and can defend pretty well from the wing position. Providing a team with good size and ability to score and handle the ball. As a freshman he averaged 11.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. While shooting 56% from the floor on 7.7 attempts per game.

Jones has the ability to continue expanding his game as well. He didn’t shoot many 3-pointers, but on the limited attempts that he had. He was able to shoot 38.7% from deep, showing the potential is there. UCLA gained the commitment of Trent Perry returning next season. Now they can look into the transfer portal to start upgrading their team. Jones is a good wing that could provide multiple years to this team.

When you look into the transfer portal, a lot of things will stick out. Such as how talented a player is, as well as how they can grow in your system. When there are players that have already shown great abilities and were just freshman. That three years of eligibility becomes huge, because you know that it is possible you could have a player for not just next season but more seasons as well. Jones is only going to continue getting better and that makes him have a high ceiling.

UCLA can go one of two ways when it comes to their starting lineup. You can run a three-guard set. Or you can run two guards in a wing player that can play multiple positions. Either way that gives you the opportunity to leave Eric Dailey Jr. at the four position and get a true center. There also is a ton of intrigue about incoming recruit Joe Philon who will have the ability to contribute immediately. The roster is coming together little by little.
