James Madison star Sahir West hits the transfer portal

Star edge rusher Sahir West from James Madison announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal. He was a guy that we highlighted that should be a key player to watch. He rushes the quarterback very well and is good in run defense. All while playing under Bob Chesney at James Madison. So, the common denominator is there. Could it be possible that he makes his way to UCLA? That would be a tremendous addition on the defensive line to help shore it up.

It is no secret that UCLA will put a big emphasis on their defense. Especially trying to get the trenches shored up. They ranked as one of the worst teams in the country in getting pressure on the quarterback. Which led to only five interceptions all year and not being able to turn the ball over much. That all starts upfront and not allowing quarterbacks to just sit in the pocket all day when you play in the Big Ten, these guys are way too good if you give them time.

West is an All-Sun Belt performer and was one of the best in the conference. He showed how dominant he can be in the championship game against Troy. 10 tackles 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Setting the town and being an anchor on the defensive line. This is the type of star that UCLA needs to build around. Now we need to hope that he sees himself continuing his college career under Chesney and the staff that is heading to the Bruins.
