We enter day four of our preseason player spotlight and it is a great time to bring up the transfer of Jamar Brown to UCLA. Mick Cronin and the staff brought in Brown over the offseason and it has the opportunity to play large dividends. Brown saw his first action as a Bruin in an exhibition game versus San Diego State and his shooting from 3-point range did not disappoint as he went 3-3 from deep. He also had a game high +19.

Brown brings shooting to this Bruins team to pair with Donovan Dent and Skyy Clark. He has the ability to score at all three levels on the floor and had some of the best shooting splits across the board at Kansas City last year. He shot 45.3/40.1/89.9 and is a very capable rebounder at 7.4 boards off the glass per night. He has the ability to get hot in a hurry and it is never a bad thing to have too much offense on your team.

The Dent portal addition was the key headline as UCLA seemingly came into the picture to get him. But Brown was a sneaky addition that can play a large role for the Bruins this season as they look to make a run deep into March. Exhibition games are exhibition for a reason, but San Diego State still is a good opponent to see what players can provide and Brown proved up to the test.

UCLA has the ability to upsize or downsize based on matchups and Brown has the abiilty to play the small forward position. We know Bruins fans have nightmares of 2024/25 season three-guard sets. but with guys like Clark, Dent and Brown that can all shoot. It changes the dynamic of congested spacing that we were used to seeing. Watch out for Brown to be an impactful transfer and could reach the rare 50/40/90 shooting splits in the right offense.
