Let the names keep adding up in the transfer portal. One of the latest names to hit the portal is Hudson Mayes from UCSD after a strong freshman season for him in 2025. He will have three years of eligibility and provides a ton of upside for a team. As a freshman, he averaged 11.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Doing so on 54.5% shooting and 35.5% from 3-point range.

The 6-foot-5 Mayes, an honorable mention all-big west player, averaged 11.1 points and 5.7 boards per game. He shot 55% from the field, 36% from 3 this season. pic.twitter.com/FkxZnh2ud7
He possesses good size at the guard position standing at 6’5 and 200 pounds. His frame is well put together as he is a very strong and bulky guard that moves the floor well. After the freshman season that he had, there will be plenty of teams that are interested in him because he will only continue to get better and better. Now with his opportunity to go to a high major, he will get some of the best coaching available to take his game to the next level.
UCLA does have some uncertainties with their roster. There are still the unknowns with Trent Perry and Skyy Clark. But if they’re able to check both of those boxes. Then that gives them the opportunity to start going out and building around that. They started to have success with the three-guard lineup again late in the season. As they now look to replace Donovan Dent who is graduating out.

Mayes was a three-star recruit coming out of high school and only received offers from two schools. They were UCSD and Central Michigan in which he chose UCSD which is much closer to home in Redondo Beach. Now with a strong college season behind him, he looks to generate more interest in the transfer portal then he received as a high school recruit. There will be teams looking to fix their mistakes they made with him.
