UCLA is set to play Wednesday night against the Washington Huskies in their first Big Ten contest of the year. The Bruins are coming off of an 80-72 loss against the Cal Golden Bears. Doing so as an 8.5-point favorite and leaving the game with many questions needing to be answered. Most notably free throws being made, shot selection and preventing transition buckets.

Odds: UCLA -1.5, Washington +1.5. Ove/under 142.5 points

The Bruins enter the game as a small favorite at 1.5 points. With the line possibly shifting a tad more in either direction. It looks to be a close battle. Washington can score the basketball and have a good starting lineup with five players that average double digits. It will be imperative for UCLA to step up their defensive effort and play team basketball. The status of Tyler Bilodeau possibly returning would be a huge boost to the lineup as well.

Washington offense: 82.6 points per game.

UCLA offense: 77 points per game.

Washington defense: 70.5 points per game allowed.

UCLA defense: 60.3 points per game allowed.

Washington key player: Hannes Steinbach 14.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game.

UCLA key player: Eric Dailey Jr. 12.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game

UCLA will need to get the ship steered in the right direction. As their problems have been ongoing. They have been able to solve rebounding and paint defense. But it seems with each passing game that a new area of concern pops up. This was a team that was projected to compete for a Big Ten Championship. Which may become a pipe dream soon if the issues are not fixed.
