The National Football Foundation announced the passing of a College Football Hall of Fame member who played at UCLA from 1950 to 1952.

Donn Moomaw passed away at the age of 93 and he was the second oldest living Hall of Fame player.

NFF Chairman Arch Manning said, "A two-time All-American and a member of the inaugural Academic All-America Hall of Fame class, he embodied the highest ideals of the scholar-athlete."

In 1952, he received unanimous recognition and earned a spot on the All-American First Team for two seasons, specifically in 1950 and 1952. Due to an injury, he earned a spot on the All-America second team in 1951 and not on the All-America first team. For the second consecutive year, he earned a spot on the All-Conference first team. As a senior, he was honored with the Lineman of the Year award and was named team MVP twice.

The Los Angeles Rams selected him in the first round of the 1953 NFL draft. His path to the church started after he stepped away from football. In 1957, he earned his bachelor's degree in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. Achieving his Ph.D in 1968 from Sterling College opened up numerous opportunities for him to pursue post his football career.

He was named a charter member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984, and the UCLA football program honored him by retiring his No. 80 jersey.
