Eric Dailey Jr. made his season debut in the second game versus Pepperdine. Dailey Jr. who was battling a knee injury missed the opener versus Eastern Washington. He proved his value right from the start with a quick 3-pointer. Helping show why he is a key piece to what UCLA wants to accomplish. A versatile lanky forward that can effect passing lanes on defense and score the ball on offense.
Dailey had the opportunity to switch back to small forward this season, which is his natural position. He often played out of rotation last year at power forward. This was due to the Bruins running a three guard lineup. Although he had a very good season, it seems to be trending upward even more now that he can operate as a wing. Which suits his skillset much better and allows more room to operate and handle the ball.

Against Pepperdine Dailey Jr. played 26 minutes and shot 3-4 from the field for 10 points. This included 2-3 from 3-point range and make his only two-point shot. He also chipped in with four boards and two assists. Dailey Jr. will be relied upon to help the Bruins solve their rebounding woes. The team is average in size is at the center position. So, guys will need to chip in and box out with basic fundamentals.
Dailey Jr. followed up his impressive opening game with a good game versus West Georgia as well. He went 5-9 from the floor for 14 points and had three rebounds. It was a much-needed boost for the team as they were playing without star point guard Donovan Dent.

He swished a pair of pull-up jump shots. Then, after establishing that range, he countered with a pump-fake and dump-down pass to Steven Jamerson.
Also showed no hesitation on a pair of 3pt attempts, knocking down the 2nd.
If UCLA wants to make a deep run in March Madness. They will need Dailey Jr. to continue to make that leap. He shot 50.7% from the field last year and 37.8% from 3-point range. That is very solid production and there is no reason to believe he canโt do it again. Especially with a better supporting cast and a point guard like Donovan Dent that will get him even better looks.
