Eric Dailey Jr. came into the season as a big part of UCLA‘s plans. He has had an inconsistent season. Showing that he can be a really good player, but then often going quiet for periods at a time. With their backs pinned against the wall and a 23-point deficit against Illinois. The Bruins needed players to step up. Dailey Jr. did just that for them and helped to lead them to a win. Having his best game of the season going 8-13 from the floor for 20 big points.

Dailey Jr. might’ve had an even bigger game if he didn’t get in foul trouble most of the night. He only played 29 minutes before filing out. But his impact was large in the win. UCLA does not win this game without the contributions that he had in the game. He also had two steals to help on defense. Which UCLA forced nine turnovers on the night while they only turn the ball over five times.
Dailey Jr. is a very unique player. He plays with a smooth game, and he is lanky at the small forward position. Being able to handle the ball and hit shots off the dribble. He really improved his 3-point shot last year as well to 37.8%. But his shot has fallen back off this year from deep as he is down to 29.2%. He just needs to find the consistency again to help out the offense. His numbers were trending upwards with seven straight double digit scoring games, before back-to-back three-point efforts versus Michigan and Michigan State.
UCLA’s Eric Dailey Jr is the epitome of what a NBA utility/teammate looks like. Efficient, defends, low maintenance, high IQ, versatility, and physical. These type of players don’t receive the national spotlight but manage to play 10+ years in the NBA. pic.twitter.com/CXBUAHvxss

A 20-point night in the biggest win of the season is a huge confidence booster. One that the Bruins Hope will continue to elevate Dailey Jr. back to his 2024 self. His play will be much needed for this team as they march towards the Big Ten tournament. Then move into the NCAA tournament most likely as a lower seed. But this team has the talent to be able to do some damage. With Dailey Jr. playing up to his capabilities that put him on NBA radars earlier in the season.
