Elijah Jones has spent all three years of his college career at UTEP. After a breakout junior season, he looks to take his talents to a high major school. His game should translate pretty well to that level. He can score the basketball very well and can space the floor out as well. His defense is also a key area that teams will look at. He averaged 1.1 blocks per game this past season.

Jones didn’t see much playing time his first two years of college. He only played about an average of nine minutes per game. But this past season saw him get more of an opportunity and play 28 minutes per game. He was able to average 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. At 6’8, he provides good size and moves pretty fluidly on the floor.

He was able to do his damage all over the floor. He shot 47.9% from the floor, which included 38.6% from 3-point range on 4.1 attempts per night. With that size and ability to shoot, you know that there will be many teams that are after him. Especially with his ability to defend and be able to block shots. That is a rare talent that will translate over to a bigger school and the opportunity that he is looking for.

UCLA will have four open scholarships available when it is all said and done. They’re looking at multiple positions that could help benefit them. Those include wing, combo guard and a traditional center. As the team looks to get better defensively and have a more efficient offense. They have taken care of their in-house needs, and now they will shift to the portal to fill out the rest.
