Drew Fielder is a good player that is in the transfer portal. As UCLA looks to fill the production being left behind at the forward position by Tyler Bilodeau. Fielder would be a really solid option to bring in to help replace some of that. Fielder will have two years of eligibility remaining, but he is ready to contribute at a bigger school. After spending his first two seasons at Georgetown, he transferred to Boise State for more of an opportunity. He made the most of it last season.

Fielder averaged 14.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for Boise State. Doing so while shooting 54.7% from the field. What’s even better is he shot 40.9% from 3-point range on close to three attempts per game. Bilodeau was an excellent shooter for UCLA and could space the floor very well for the team. It would be nice to find a player in the transfer portal that can help have similar production to what he provided.

It will be very hard to find 17.6 points per game in production from a player. But you can piece together players that can help absorb some of those points and the growth of other players. Such as Eric Dailey Jr. taking another step and then Eric Freeny opening up his offensive game more. Look at it similar to the baseball term Moneyball. Take multiple players to help reach your average goal that you’re looking to hit.

Fielder is going to have a really good season for a new team. He plays, smart basketball and has very good size at 6’11, while moving the floor well. UCLA should have an emphasis on the transfer portal with so many talented names that have entered it. They can go out and get some players that can help immediately. As three straight seasons with no Sweet 16 appearance is not going to cut it for this school. They need to end the drought.
