The 6-4 sophomore averaged 15.8 PPG, 6.3 RPG, and 2.4 APG this season, earning AAC Most Improved Player honors and leading the Owls in scoring.… pic.twitter.com/oLqAoMLq4b
Vanterpool is a guy that can defend as well and create turnover opportunities. He averaged 1.5 steals per game, which is big in helping a team get out in transition. Something that UCLA can thrive on and under Mick Cronin preach defense. Florida Atlantic has struggled in the two seasons since Dusty May has left but still have good talent on their team. Now those players are looking for a bigger opportunity.
Vanterpool will be an intriguing option for many schools at high majors. He will definitely get some looks at power four schools. UCLA would be a great option for him if they decide they want to continue with the three-guard set. Especially with the commitment that Eric Dailey Jr. will return. They’re also awaiting decisions to see if Skyy Clark and Trent Perry will be back next season. That could provide a ton of clarity on next moves in the portal for this roster.
Vanterpool will be one of the most sought after wings in the portal!

Elite shooter and defender.
Where does he end up next? 🤔🤔 https://t.co/IH8uxtNMGn pic.twitter.com/l67jTDGv4P
If all goes according to planned. With two incoming recruits in Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon. That would leave UCLA with four open scholarships to use on transfers. There will be plenty of intrigue in the transfer portal. Now it comes down to how much NIL UCLA is willing to dish out. Because if they open up the wallets, there are some really good players that could immediately make this team better. Vanterpool is one of them.
