Devin Royal is a forward from Ohio State that just recently hit the transfer portal. He can score the ball well but doesn’t have much of a 3-point shot. That is something that UCLA could work with as long as both Skyy Clark and Trent Perry return and Xavier Booker’s shot stays consistent. With Tyler Bilodeau graduating out and heading onto the next level. UCLA is now looking for 17.6 points of production to replace in their front court.

Royal could go a long way in helping UCLA provide some offense. He will be someone that is highly looked at in the transfer portal. Seen as a longshot that the Bruins could land him. But if he’s looking for an opportunity at getting good playing time and production. UCLA could be a landing spot for him if they were interested in going out and getting him. Royal averaged 13.7 points per game in each of the last two seasons.

Royal will have one year of eligibility left for his senior year. In the right situation, he could be a 15-17 points per game player and generate NBA buzz. At 6’6, he is a versatile player that moved from power forward to small forward this past season. Which could be perfect for the Bruins as their best basketball was played with Eric Dailey Jr. at power forward. That could be the look for them in 2026 for their most success.

Royal could be a good start in UCLA being able to replace some points production in players graduating out. He is not the prototypical player that you’d expect Mick Cronin to go out and get. But with UCLA meeting to bring in some talent. They will need to be aggressive in the portal to make that happen. This team cannot expect another round of 32 exit to be a successful season. That is not Bruins basketball.
