Charlisse Leger-Walker was another transfer along with Gianna Kneepkens that is playing a large role on this Bruins team. After spending four seasons at Washington State and being the top scorer for the school all four years. She had one more year of eligibility left and decided to do it at UCLA. After tearing her ACL, she sat out the entire 2024-25 season and is now back and playing her best basketball of her college career. She is nowhere near her scoring numbers at Washington State but she is a lot more efficient at UCLA.

UCLA has a ton of talent and doesn’t need Walker to score at an enormous rate. At Washington State she averaged 16.6 points per game but was very high volume. Shooting 38.2% from the floor and having a lot of shots to reach those numbers. Her points per game have dipped to 9.4 at UCLA but she is doing so on 46.2% shooting from the floor and shooting close to eight less shots per game. More talent leads to better opportunities and Walker has redefined her game to fit in perfectly.

Walker sees the floor very well and leads the team at 6.7 assists and 2 steals per game. Showing she has a huge impact on both ends of the floor. The entire Bruins starting lineup are all seniors and that veteran leadership is playing a huge role. There were expected to be growing pains with two transfers coming into the starting lineup. But Walker and Kneepkens have slid in from the start and kept everything moving full steam ahead. UCLA has dominated all of their opponents outside of their one loss against Texas.

UCLA is as good as any team in the country.  They are one of the favorites for March Madness for a reason. Walker is a key piece to this team and a perfect transfer that came in and is playing a redefined role then she is used too. Not only has she taken that challenge on, but she has embraced it and playing efficient basketball. She will be needed with Kiki Rice in the backcourt as they will play some good Big Ten backcourts coming up. UCLA knows she is more than capable of handling the extra duties and doing so at a high level.
